"Er und Ich" was initially a video work, and later reworked into a room installation. I supplemented the narrative video material with documentary recordings of my hometown, photos from my personal archive, old home videos, drawings and written notes. For the installation I wanted to simulate the cozy atmosphere of my brother's small room in the village.
My brother, ten years younger than me, became a semi-fictional figure, still living with his mother in a small Upper Franconian village where the farms are dying, and the Internet has brought the outside world in.
A work that reflects me as much as him, that deals with ideas about home, growing up, depression and the lack of perspective in small places.
